India’s best record at the Commonwealth Games was in the previous edition, where India won five medals. The current India squad, which comprises of Sindhu, Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth (in singles), Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty (men’s doubles) and Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy  (mixed doubles) are solid contenders for medals. It would be a surprise if India do not win medals from the above-mentioned players.

Besides India have a mixed team event as well. Here too, India are sure to finish with a medal. The superheavyweights of badminton — China, Denmark and Japan – are not part of the Commonwealth Nations.

In the absence of big nations from the top tier of badminton, the route for India has also been very clear to win maximum medal in the Games. If any, they are going to face some competition from Malaysia and England.
