CWG 2022 Esports- Commonwealth Esports Championship: The inaugural edition of the Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022 will be held in Birmingham at the International Convention Centre. Esports athletes will take center stage in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and compete at the CWEC 2022 for the very first time. Indian esports players are also ready to showcase their performance at Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022. CWG 2022 Esports: Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022 (DOTA 2)

Indian DOTA 2 team has shown an amazing performance during the regional qualifiers of CWEC 2022 by claiming four wins from six matches. The Indian DOTA 2 team, defeated Sri Lanka in both rounds while managing to win in one round each against Pakistan and Bangladesh to finish second after Pakistan. Following a good performance during the regional qualifiers of CWEC 2022, the Indian DOTA 2 team secured its spot at the Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022. This is the same team who is selected for the Asian Games to represent India at DOTA 2 event. Matches of the CWEC 2022 will surely give them good practice with the International teams and help in their preparations for the upcoming Asian Games.

“We are happy and a bit disappointed as well for our run in the regional qualifiers as we were expecting a clean sweep. We will continue our grind and have to study good teams in our Esports title and learn better strategies, skills, coordination, and teamwork. The entire team is looking forward to playing against the best teams in the world and proving our mettle. We have been paying a lot of attention to our strategies and practicing a lot in the hopes of a podium finish.” said Moin Ejaz, Captain of the Indian DOTA 2 team.

A total of 7 countries qualified for the DOTA 2 championship. These teams will be competing with each other in the Preliminary rounds which will start from 3rd August and continue till 5th August at Nottingham Trent University. Indian DOTA 2 team has been placed along with England, Wales & Trinidad, and Tobago in group A.

DOTA 2 Team of England will be a tough competitor for the other teams in Group A. The team has shown a dominant performance during the county qualifiers. It will be so exciting to see the battle between both teams.

Jonathan CRYSEN Bennet, Captain of the England DOTA 2 Team said, “Representing Esports England in Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022 means a lot for me personally. My dad is a lifetime athlete, he used to play traditional sports competitively. I think we are a really solid team. I know the team players pretty well. We have a good skill set and experience in the DOTA 2 competitive, we have a good chance to win it.”

CWEC 2022: Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022 (Rocket League)

Led by Hargun Singh, the Indian Rocket League team emerged victorious in all three matches during the regional qualifiers of CWEC 2022. The Indian Rocket League team consists of players from the top two Rocket League teams in the country that have participated in over 30 Rocket League events in the past 3 years. These players hold the Grand Champion Rank in the Rocket League game. The team lived up to the expectations by defeating all other countries in the South Asian Regional qualifiers for Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022.

“I am really excited about esports being included in a Commonwealth event, as a player it’s a huge opportunity being given to us. It’s an honor to represent India on such a big stage, I am really proud of my team for grinding and getting to this point where our hard work and thousands of hours we have put in can be showcased. We are putting extra effort to maximize everyone’s potential and work together as a team. ” said elated Hargun Singh, Captain of the Indian Rocket League team.

A total of 8 countries qualified for the Rocket League championship at CWEC 2022. Preliminary rounds of the event will start from 3rd August and continue till 5th August at Nottingham Trent University. Indian Rocket League team has been placed in Group B along with Canada, England & Wales.

St. Clair College’s Rocket League team who is representing Canada in Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022 will be a tough competitor for the Indian team. They qualified from the Open Division after finishing as the top Canadian team in The Gaming Stadium’s Rocket League Open event held in April.

“The opportunity to be representing Canada at the Commonwealth Games is amazing and is something I never thought I would be able to do. To play for Canada is a dream I’ve always had,” said Josh “Comp” Byrne Rocket League team captain. “We’ve put in a lot of hard work as a team and individually. I’ve been determined and constantly working towards improvement, for both my life and career, over the past seven years and I’m glad to finally see it pay off.”

With the participation of top international esports teams, the upcoming Commonwealth Esports Championships will provide great exposure for Indian players ahead of the 2022 Asian Games. Alongside DOTA 2 and Rocket League, PES 2022 will also be part of the inaugural edition of the Commonwealth Esports Championship.
