KKR traded Uthappa to CSK at the end of IPL 2020. Nicknamed ‘Robbie’, Uthappa is yet to get a match for the yellow-brigade. While he has aged and has not been in the form of late, he can certainly give CSK a good start & scored well in limited opportunities he got during the curtailed domestic season.

Robin Uthappa- 1st choice opener

Robin Uthappa, who missed out on an opportunity to feature in the playing XI for CSK in the India leg of IPL 2021, can open with Gaikwad. He has amassed over 2000 runs as an opener in the Indian Premier League. Thus, he can be a like-to-like replacement for Faf du Plessis.

CSK vs MI LIVE: Ambati Rayudu- 2nd choice

Ambati Rayudu can open for CSK in absence of Faf du Plessis in IPL 2021 Phase 2. He has previously played as an opener. He had scored 126 runs in the first 7 matches and needs to pull up his shocks to fill the void.  He has smashed as many as 20 half-centuries and a hundred in his IPL career.
