Chasing a modest target of 134, Gujarat Titans were off to a great start with Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha adding 59 runs for the opening partnership.
While GT lost quick wickets in Shubman (18), Matthew Wade (20) and Hardik Pandya (7), Saha continued to keep the scorecard ticking.
Wriddhiman Saha smashed a 57-ball 67 to deny Chennai Super Kings any chance of making a comeback. Matheesha Pathirana, nicknamed the New Malinga, did really well. With uncanny similarity in bowling with Lankan legend Lasith Malinga, he dismissed Gill on the first delivery.

In his second over, he removed Hardik Pandya. However, that was it. David Miller and Wriddhiman Saha ensured, Gujarat won by 7 wickets.
Earlier, Gujarat Titans successfully restricted Chennai Super Kings to 133/5. While Ruturaj Gaikwad smashed a fighting fifty (53) and N Jagadeesan scored 39, some tight bowling meant, CSK could only post 133/5.

Opting to bat, Chennai Super Kings never got going. After losing Devon Conway in the third over, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali added 57 runs for the 2nd wicket. However, the scoring rate remained just over 6 on a difficult track to bat on.
Ruturaj Gaikwad scored a slow 53-run knock off 49 balls while Narayan Jadeeshan scored 39 off 33. But they failed to get the boundaries required to post a total above 150.
