They turned their attention to his toenails, which were painted black.
One fan wrote: “Did I miss something or everyone else missed it. Did Ronaldo paint his toe nails?” Another added: “All I know is athletes who do MMA usually add paint to get a protective layer or something.”
Here’s why Ronaldo paints his toenails black
As per a source cited in the German outlet Bild, it appears that a protective layer is a reason behind the 38-year-old athlete painting his toenails. The source reveals that many athletes, including Ronaldo, opt to paint their nails or apply a protective covering to guard against fungi and bacteria.
They said: “Many top athletes do this to protect their nails from fungi and bacteria when they are stuck in sweaty shoes for hours. Even Mike Tyson.”
Painting toenails is not exclusive to Ronaldo, as former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski reportedly does the same during competitions.
The practice is said to assist athletes in preventing their toenails from cracking or splitting by hardening the nails with a layer of polish, thereby reducing the risk of damage during a fight.
Cristiano Ronaldo to unite with an ex-coach?
Saudis keep splurging as they try to bring Saudi Arabian football’s status to the top class. There have already been news that Saudi clubs are trying to bring Lionel Messi to the country with double the amount that Cristiano Ronaldo receives.
They have also tried to bring Benzema and Modric to Al-Nassr to reunite them with Ronaldo. Now, rumors have arrived that Al-Nassr is trying to bring Zinedine Zidane and Jose Mourinho at the helm to bring better results.
