The manager even criticized Ronaldo for missing a gilt-edged chance. He said, “One of the things that changed the course of the match was Cristiano’s missed opportunity in the first half. I congratulate Al-Ittihad. They presented a much better first half than us, and we played a good second half, but unfortunately, we were not able to adjust the result. It’s true that we regret losing the Super Cup, but we are still the first in the league.”
Cristiano Ronaldo set for new record
Cristiano Ronaldo could join a prestigious list of footballers to have won league titles in four different countries. Currently, Al-Nassr is at the top of the Saudi Pro League. If Al-Nassr wins, then Ronaldo will add the Saudi Pro League title to his list of other domestic titles. Before coming to Saudi Ronaldo won domestic league titles with Manchester United (3x), Real Madrid (2x), and Juventus (2x).
With 16 matches still left in the 16-team league, Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. cannot afford to take their foot off the gas with just one point lead at the top. Al-Nassr’s next task will be an away-league game against Al Fateh. However, it remains to be seen if the five-time Ballon d’Or will be fit to take part in the game
