“Zero chance”: Ab de Villiers counters Kaif’s claims of Rohit Sharma captaining RCB in IPL 2025

Former RCB star Ab De Villiers laughed off Mohammad Kaif's obnoxious claims of Rohit Sharma moving to the side from MI ahead of IPL 2025

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Ab de Villiers has shrugged off a speculation made by Mohammad Kaif that Rohit Sharma would lead RCB in IPL 2025. The remark from the former Indian cricketer came in the backdrop of the ongoing discussions over retentions ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction. ABD categorically stated that there was literally zero percent chances of the Hitman moving to RCB.

ABD doesn’t think Rohit Sharma will move to RCB for IPL 2025

aIn a video, Ab de Villiers reveals that he laughed when he heard Kaif’s obnoxious prediction for Rohit Sharma. The South African claimed that that move would be bigger than Hardik Pandya being traded to the Gujarat Titans ahead of IPL 2024. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma was replaced with Hardik as the skipper before IPL 2024, triggering speculations of the veteran’s future with the franchise.

I laughed at that comment. It will be the biggest story of the IPL. It will bigger than Hardik Pandya’s move to Mumbai from Gujarat Titans. If Rohit moves from Mumbai to join rivals RCB…on my god. I don’t think this would happen. There is a zero or 0.1 per cent chance,” Ab de Villiers said.

What Kaif said about Rohit Sharma & RCB

According to Kaif, RCB should not only aim to acquire Rohit but also appoint him as their captain, signalling a potential shift in leadership for the Bangalore-based franchise.

Mohmmad Kaif while talking with Star Sports said: “I’m telling you with a guarantee that Rohit Sharma turns a player from an 18 to a 20.He understands tactical moves very well. If RCB gets a chance, they should definitely take Rohit Sharma as captain.”

While MI has been one of the most successful teams in IPL history, winning five titles under Rohit’s captaincy, they have not lifted the trophy in the last four seasons. With new talent emerging and the need for a fresh strategy, there are whispers that MI might look to rebuild their squad, which could involve difficult choices around their captain.
