India cricket team spinner Yuzvendra Chahal responded to his snub from the national side with another five-wicket haul in the County Championship Divison 2. The spinner has been in and out of the Indian team over the last few years and has clearly fallen out of the favour of the selectors. En route his five-wicket haul, Chahal also completed taking 100 first-class wickets.
Another five-wicket haul for Chahal in County
The leg-spinner finished his spell with figures of 5/45 in Northamptonshire’s 1st innings against Derbyshire. Chahal’s blitz started in after the 50th over as he dismantled Derbyshire’s middle and the lower-order. His spell saw Derbyshire being bowled out for just 165 runs, allowing his team to gain the upper hand in the game.

Chahal’s dream County debut
The 34-year-old bowled as a first-change bowler and had a dream debut in Canterbury earlier in August. The wily leg-spinner, who became the first player to complete 200 IPL wickets earlier this year, asserted his dominance with a superb five-wicket haul against Kent. In his first stint, Chahal was fantastic, returning with exceptional figures of 5/14 in ten overs.
Yuzvendra Chahal was used to be one of the first names on the team sheet. After 2017, he and Kuldeep Yadav hunted in pair and the duo saw tremendous success as well. However, 7 years later, while Kuldeep is a prized possession for India, same is not the case with Chahal.
