Once again, County Cricket is back for Yuzvendra Chahal. The ace leggie is set to re-join Northamptonshire for the 2025 County Cricket season after the conclusion of IPL 2025. The veteran leggie is set to rejoin his county cricket side in June and continue till the end of the season. In the meantime, Chahal will now, however, be eager to finish his work with Punjab Kings.
Chahal will not only be featuring in the County Championship, he will also be taking part in the One-Day Cup as well. In the meantime, it is expected that Chahal’s first game would be on 22nd June against Middlesex. Back last year, Chahal made his debut in England where he bagged 5 wickets on his debut against Kent and a brilliant County debut against Derbyshire.
Chahal ready for second County Cricket Stint
Last time, Chahal could manage just 4 First Class games, but he managed to take 19 wickets with a brilliant average of 21. Under his charge, Northamptonshire managed consecutive wins against Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time here last season, so I’m very happy to be coming back. There are some great people in that dressing room, and I can’t wait to be part of that again. We played some great cricket towards the back end of the season, so hopefully, we’re able to replicate that and big up some victories,” said Chahal.
Chahal has not been a part of Team India since 2023. While he was indeed a part of the squad that lifted the ICC T20 World Cup, but the leggie was not used in a single game.
“I’m really excited that one of the best leg spinners in the world is returning to Northamptonshire this season. He brings invaluable experience, and he’s an absolute gentleman who loves the game. Having him available from mid-June until the end of the season will be fantastic for us,” Head coach Darren Lehmann said.
