Yuzvendra Chahal goes to RCB for a whopping Rs 12 crore in IPL 2025 Mock Auction

Yuzvendra Chahal goes to RCB for a whopping Rs 12 crore in IPL 2025 Mock Auction

Chahal has taken the most wickets in the IPL and for RCB.

He’s coming home! Yuzvendra Chahal will return to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Well, according to fans. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction is just 10 days away. But, in the meantime, you can watch the mock version. Some cricket lovers decided to predict what could happen in Jeddah.

Chahal in high demand at the IPL 2025 ‘mock’ Auction

Chahal has set himself the base price of Rs 2 crore and would be under the category of spinners, so the mock auction followed the same pattern and the bidding started. Mumbai Indians (MI), Punjab Kings (PBKS), Gujarat Titans (GT), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and RCB all went for the leg spinner.

RCB started things off, and soon enough, both PBKS and GT backed off. MI joined the party, but with the cost going over Rs 9 crore, they chose to back down. Then CSK jumped and increased Chahal’s price to Rs 11.5 crore, and finally, RCB, who were in the bidding process from the start, bagged their ‘old’ leggie for Rs 12 crore, six times more than his base price.

Chahal’s IPL journey

Having made his IPL debut in 2013 with MI, the leggie has become the most successful wicket-taker in the league’s history. He may have started with MI, but RCB became his home for 8 seasons. Chahal somehow found success in the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is considered to be a bowler’s graveyard due to its small dimensions and batting-friendly surface. But, surprisingly, he was let go with RCB not even bidding for him at the IPL 2022 mega auction. Heartbroken, Chahal went to the Rajasthan Royals and won the purple cap in his first year there. He continued to find success with RR, but with just six retentions allowed to be made, they released him before the IPL 2025 season.

Chance of RCB reunion?

Chahal could return home. Despite doing so well, the leg-spinner often finds himself underrated. Until 2017, Chahal was paid just Rs 1 crore by the RCB despite being their highest wicket-taker in 2015 and 2016. From 2018 to 2021, he received Rs 6 crore, but until then, he was the best spinner in the league, with Rashid Khan creeping up on him.

Even after going to the mega auction in 2022, he only got Rs 6.5 crore. This indicated that despite being a proven wicket-taker, Chahal probably won’t get the big bucks at the IPL 2025 mega auction. This gives RCB a great chance to get him back. They have Rs 83 crore left and 22 spots to fill. By spending around 6-7 crore or perhaps even less, they can get Chahal back.
