Two-time World Cup-winner Yuvraj Singh, one of cricket’s greatest left-handers, will represent India Masters in the inaugural season of the International Masters League (IML), scheduled to take place from February 22 to March 16 this year.
Renowned for his game-changing moments, Yuvraj was instrumental in India’s victory at the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, where he famously hit six consecutive sixes in an over against England’s Stuart Broad. He also played a crucial role in India’s triumph at the ICC ODI World Cup in 2011, earning the Player of the Tournament accolade for his outstanding all-round performance.
Commenting on his return to cricket with the India Masters, Yuvraj expressed, “Taking the field with Sachin (Tendulkar) and my other teammates feels like reliving the glory days. Playing alongside them brings back so many memories. For me, the IML is a tribute to the era that defined Indian cricket, and I can’t wait to create more unforgettable memories for all the fans who have supported us over the years.“
Duminy, Tharanga also join International Masters League
Joining Yuvraj in the IML are South Africa’s JP Duminy and Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga. Duminy will represent South Africa Masters, while Tharanga will play for Sri Lanka Masters.
Duminy said, “Representing South Africa Masters in the inaugural season of the International Masters League is a huge honour. I am looking forward to playing in a tournament that features the greats of the game. Cricket fans can expect riveting and exhilarating cricket.”
Tharanga added, “I am excited to represent Sri Lanka Masters in the first season of the International Masters League. The IML will be a fantastic tournament where old friends and rivals will take the field and produce memorable cricket.”
