Former cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan and Suresh Raina are in trouble after the National Centre for Promotion of Employment for Disabled People (NCPEDP) lodged a complaint against the stars. The complaint accuses the stars of mocking and insulting differently-abled individuals.
The video, which went viral after the World Championship of Legends 2024 final, showed Harbhajan, Yuvraj Singh, and Suresh Raina limping and imitating a “funny” walk, similar to how differently challenged people walk.
Complaint lodged against Yuvraj, Raina and Harbhajan
As per The Hindu, four cricketers, including Gurkeerat Mann, have been named in the complaint lodged at the Amar Colony police station in New Delhi.
“This entire act has been done in disguise of casual entertainment. We also want to register this complaint against Sandhya Devanathan, the Vice President and Managing Director of Meta India as the platform is also in violation of the Information Technology Act of 2000 by allowing such content to be posted on their platform Instagram which violating user guidelines,” the complaint read.
No respite despite apology
Both Harbhajan and Raina took to social media on Monday to apologize for the video after drawing flak for their actions.
Harbhajan and Raina emphasized that their intention was not to insult or offend anyone and apologized if their actions were perceived otherwise. His apology is a shows the importance of being mindful of our actions and their impact on others, especially when you are massive public figures.
