Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad called MS Dhoni a ‘young keeper’ during the toss for the CSK vs Mumbai Indians (MI) clash. Well, he may have been sarcastic, but he wasn’t wrong. Dhoni, at 43, still got it. Despite claiming to not even touch his keeping gloves during 10 months of his career, Dhoni flexed his razor-sharp reflexes with a superb stumping of Suryakumar Yadav.
Suryakumar Yadav’s horror form
Suryakumar Yadav, who is captaining the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the absence of Hardik Pandya, got in early when his side lost two wickets. Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton both got out when SKY stepped in. He looked in decent touch, hammering a couple of boundaries. Just when he was looking for a long haul, Noor Ahmad struck! A wrong one not only went past SKY but it also saw Dhoni stump the Indian T20I captain, leaving his right foot well ahead of the popping crease at the time of stumping.
In his last eight T20 internationals, Suruyakumar made just 54 runs at a horrific average and strike rate of 6.75 and 100.00. He had a horrible five-match T20I series against England, where SKY made just 28 runs at 5.60. Following that, he even played five Ranji Trophy innings for Mumbai too, accumulating just one fifty. Now, the flamboyant dasher has started his IPL 2025 with a 26-ball 29. It is indeed a worry for India and MI, who hope Suryakumar finds his form sooner rather than later.
