Team India star pacer Mohammed Shami has taken a dig at the Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh. After winning the World Cup against India, a pic of Mitchell Marsh resting his feet on the World Cup trophy went viral on social media platforms. To note, Mitchell Marsh also received a lot of flak from the Indian fans after the pic of him resting his feet on the prized trophy went viral.
To note, Mohammed Shami finished as the highest wicket-taker in the World Cup with 24 scalps. Despite his heroics with the ball, the express pacer could not help Team India lift the prized possession. Meanwhile, Shami stated that he is not happy with Mitchell Marsh’s actions and this is the trophy that a person would want to lift over his/her head.
“I am hurt. The trophy for which all the teams in the world fight, the trophy which you want to lift over your head, keeping a foot on that trophy did not make me happy,” said Shami.
FIR filed against Marsh
Earlier, Pandit Keshav, an RTI activist from Aligarh, submitted a written complaint against Mitchell Marsh at the Delhi Gate police station, claiming that the Australian all-rounder had offended Indian emotions with the viral photo. The complainant also claimed that this is an insult to the World Cup and also to the dignity of 140 crore Indian fans.
Keshav Pandit has also sent a copy of his report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur’s office demanding a lifetime ban on Mitchell Marsh from playing in India and against India elsewhere.
