“You should take it” – WATCH Adam Zampa coaxes Pakistan captain Rizwan to take risky DRS

The incident occurred when Australia were 9 down and Pakistan had just one DRS left.

There’s something about wicketkeepers. They are quirky, comical, and often annoying. Two keepers exactly fit this description. One will travel to Australia soon, and the other is currently playing against them at the Adelaide Oval. Mohammad Rizwan, who’s recently been appointed Pakistan’s white-ball captain, was at his chirpy and quirky best in Adelaide.

Having lost the first ODI by a small margin, Rizwan wanted to make sure he didn’t start his captaincy career with a series defeat. Luckily, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Shah Afridi heard him and delivered a top-knock performance with the ball in the must win 2nd ODI. With Australia 153/6, Rizwan was coaxed by Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa into taking the review.

Rizwan goes record chasing

Rizwan had already wasted a review earlier, but with one wicket left, he chose to risk it. But that’s not the whole story. You see, Rizwan had already claimed six catches and tied Sarfaraz Ahmed’s record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper for Pakistan in ODIs. Then in the 34th over, he dropped an easy chance, and two balls later, Naseem Shah and Rizwan thought they’d gotten the last man, Zampa, caught behind.

Zampa’s bag of tricks

The umpire disagreed, and Rizwan didn’t seem sure either. So he asked Zampa, “Did you hear something?” The leggie replied, “You seem to appeal for everything.” Rizwan asked Zampa, “Should I take the review now?” Joking the spinner replied, “Ya, you should take it.” Rizwan went up, but the replays showed it missed the bat. Record missed.

Luckily, the failed DRS (Decision Review System) didn’t cost Pakistan much as Shaheen bowled Zampa in the very next over and finished things off.
