You need an anchor: Ex-India wicket-keeper backs Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma to play in T20 World Cup 2024

Saba Karim said that team India needs the experience of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Saba Karim has backed Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to play in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The veteran emphasized on the fact that the Men in Blue will require the experience of the senior batters as they can play the anchor’s role for team India in the upcoming World Cup.

The wickets in USA and West Indies might be slow and you need the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma who can anchor the innings,” said Saba Karim in a conversation with JioCinema.

Need experience for World Cup: Karim

Earlier, Karim shared his thoughts on Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma being recalled for the T20I series against Afghanistan. “There is no doubt now. Now that you have included both these players against Afghanistan, it means there has been a massive change in the selectors’ thinking. They feel they need experience for the World Cup. That’s why Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have made a comeback,” Karim said while speaking on Sports18.

There is another thing. Until now, the selectors had shown faith in Hardik Pandya as a captain, but questions are being raised because of Hardik Pandya’s injury. That’s why the selectors have gone back to Rohit Sharma to bring stability, both as a captain and a batter,” Karim added.
