Yashasvi Jaiswal tipped over Shubman Gill as ‘next big superstar’ by Australian players

While Yashasvi Jaiswal is yet to play a Test match against Australia, Shubman Gill has made 444 runs at an average of 44.40 against the Aussies in 11 innings.

While the Indian cricket team enjoys no dearth of talent, two players who have caught everyone’s attention are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill. The two are not only hailed as India’s sure-shot future opening partners but are also two of the most exciting players to watch on a cricket field. While one dominates opposition that belies his age, the other oozes unmatched class and flamboyance.

Yashasvi Jaiswal more ‘favorite’ than Shubman Gill?

In a build-up for the much-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) later this year, Star Sports recently shared a short video, where the Australian team named their choice for the potential future superstar. And the likes of Mithcell Starc, Travis Head, and Steve Smith gave their opinions. As many as eight Aussie superstars voiced their opinions, none of them named any player other than Yashasvi Jaiswal or Shubman Gill.

Interestingly, however, Jaiswal was the most favorite one, as his name was called by six players, while Cameron Green and Travis Head chose Gill. Marnus Labuschagne was the only one who named both the Indian youngsters.

Although Jaiswal has not played Test cricket against Australia, he has come up against them 5 times in T20Is. While he made only 138 runs in those games, his strike rate of 168.3 showed he fears no bowling attack. In fact, it was only earlier this year when the southpaw decimated England in a five-match Test series. Jaiswal bludgeoned 712 runs in that rubber, taking Test cricket with aplomb. This made his spot as an opener alongside Rohit Sharma a permanent one.
