Mumbai cricket team will head into the Ranji Trophy semi-final without the services of Yashasvi Jaiswal. The southpaw, who was snubbed from India’s Champions Trophy squad, has been ruled out of the clash with Vidarbha. Earlier, Jaiswal took part in the first match of the second leg against Jammu and Kashmir, along with Rohit Sharma.
Jaiswal ruled out of Ranji Trophy semis
As per Times of India, Jaiswal complained of pain in his left ankle and hence has been ruled out of the semi-final clash against Vidarbha. The report states that Yashasvi will now head to the NCA in Bengaluru for further evauation of his ankle injury. This comes as a last-minute blow to defending champions Mumbai ahead of their clash against a resillient Karun Nair and co.

Jaiswal was replaced by Varun Chakravarthy in India’s final squad for Champions Trophy. He was named as a non-travelling reserve along with Shivam Dube and Siraj. Earlier, the southpaw made his ODI debut in the IND vs ENG 1st ODI. In the only Ranji match that Yashasvi played in the 2nd leg, he managed to score 30 runs in two innings.
“The inclusion of Yashasvi for this crucial game will be beneficial and will boost the Mumbai team’s morale,” Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil had said earlier.

The Mumbai vs Vidarbha semi-final clash will commence on January 17 (Monday) in Nagpur. Defending champions Mumbai booked their semis berth after beating Haryana in the quarterfinal. With Jaiswal ruled out, Ayush Mhatre and Akash Anand will continue to open the innings for Mumbai.
