Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Test debut was a no-brainer. The 21-year-old batter impressed everyone with stupendous performances in IPL 2023. Owing to his brilliant form, he went on to join the Indian camp for the World Test Championship Finals where he donned the role of a reserve player.
“We have been desperate for a left-hander opener. Let’s hope, Yashasvi performs well for the team and makes that spot his own,” skipper Rohit Sharma said.
“Gill himself wants to play at No 3. He spoke to Rahul bhai about it as he has done well at No 3 & 4 in the last in domestic cricket. It also helps as we will get left-right opening combination,” Rohit added.
