Yashasvi Jaiswal goes past Virat Kohli for this unique record

Earlier, Virat Kohli had smashed 123 runs back in 2018 in Perth.

Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal lived upto all the expectations as he slammed his maiden Test century in Australia on Sunday in the first Test against Australia. After failing in the first innings, Jaiswal turned things around as he showed immense patience and grit against the formidable Australian bowling line-up to get to the milestone.

Yashasvi Jaiswal breaks Virat Kohli record

It was when Jaiswal went past 123 that he edged Virat Kohli. Up until some time back, Kohli held the highest individual score by an visiting batter at the venue. Kohli had hit 123 in 2018. Jaiswal is now set, and Australia would surely like to see the back of him quickly as he is dominating proceeding now on the third day of the game at Perth. 

Apart from breaking Virat Kohli’s record, Yashasvi Jaiswal also joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rishabh Pant, Dattu Phadkar among others, in the list of the youngest Indian batters to score a hundred in Australia.

Jaiswal puts India in commanding position

Jaiswal and his opening partner KL Rahul gave India a solid start in reply to Australia’s first innings score of 104/10. The duo showed their class by recording a 190-plus stand. Jaiswal, who was watchful early on, shifted gears after completing his fifty.

Jaiswal boasts an incredible record as he has raced past 1,500 runs from 14 Tests at an average of 56-plus and a strike rate of 70-plus. He now has four centuries and eight half-centuries to his name, with a best score of 214. However, 1,091 of his runs have come at home at 60.61. It must be noted that Jaiswal is playing his maiden Test against Australia.
