An impressed Virat Kohli took to Instagram and praised the young RR opener “Wow, this is some of the best batting I have seen in a while. What a talent Yashasvi Jaiswal”, Kohli wrote in an Instagram story with an image of Jaiswal.
Chasing a target of 150 runs set by the Kolkata Knight Riders, Jaiswal wasted no time in taking charge. From the very beginning, he launched a relentless onslaught on Nitish Rana, hitting the KKR skipper for 26 runs, including three fours and two sixes.
Despite losing Jos Buttler in the next over, Jaiswal continued his onslaught, adding a boundary and a maximum to his tally. However, it was in the third over, bowled by Shardul Thakur, that he etched his name in history books.
Thanks to Jaiswal’s sensational performance, the Rajasthan Royals chased down the 150-run target in a mere 13.1 overs.
Earlier, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal made history by becoming the highest wicket-taker in the IPL with a total of 184 dismissals. Chahal surpassed Dwayne Bravo, who had 183 dismissals. The veteran reached the milestone after taking the wicket of KKR captain Nitish Rana on the second delivery of the 11th over. He later got rid of Venkatesh Iyer, who was well-set on 57, and Shardul Thakur, in the 17th over.
