The India Cricket Team remains 3rd in The World Test Standings (WTC) Standings. Rain played spoilsport, as now both teams will have to remain contented with a draw. Australia continues to remain in the second spot as India’s Points have seen a dip. With the Gabba Test resulting in a draw, the Border Gavaskar Trophy remains tied at 1-1.
Team India was in a losing position but then managed to turn the tide. At one spot yesterday on Day 4, India was reduced to 75/5. However, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Askash Deep, and Jasprit Bumrah proved handy with the bat. India avoided a follow-on and Australia had to bat again.
Rain saves India as Gabba Test ends in draw
India turned up with the ball reducing the hosts to 89/7 before declaring. India was tasked to chase 275 runs in 54 overs, but then the heavens opened up ultimately the game had to be called off.
A draw is the best result that India has hoped for after their horrible batting collapse. Rohit Sharma and Co continue to be in the hunt for the WTC Finals. But for that, India will have to go out all guns blazing and etch out 2 wins to automatically seal their spot in the finals.
On the other hand, South Africa has more or less secured their spot in the finals. The Proteas top the charts and only a solitary win will be enough to make them automatically qualify.
