WTC Final: India opener Shubman Gill shared a picture of Cameron Green’s controversial dismissal of him on social media on Day 4 of the World Test Championship Final. Experts debated on whether Green was able to successfully make the catch at third slip since some images and videos appeared to show the ball touching the ground as soon as Green’s hand made contact with it. Gill was given out because the third umpire deemed the catch to be fair. Gill strongly expressed his dissatisfaction at being given out. He tweeted a picture of the catch along with the ‘facepalm’ emoji after the fourth day of the match ended.

Cameron Green Catch creates HUGE controversy, Social Media ERUPTS as UNLUCKY Shubman Gill falls victim

Based on Gill’s screenshots, it appears like the Australian grounded the ball before making the catch, which brought the end of his innings at 18 from 19 balls. The incident happened just before tea time when Gill attempted to poke a ball by Scott Boland just beyond of the off-stump line. The ball got an outside edge along the way, traveling in the area between the slip cordon and the gully, before Green dove to his left to finish a magnificent effort.

Following a lengthy discussion between the umpire and TV official, Gill was declared out as there was no solid evidence to back the batter. Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara then established a fifty-plus run partnership for the second wicket. The two then lost their wickets quickly as Pujara was caught behind for 27 while playing an uppercut against Pat Cummins and Rohit was trapped LBW on 43 while attempting a sweep against Nathan Lyon.
