WTC Final LIVE: Devon Conway continues red-hot form, slams fifty to provide New Zealand dream start – New Zealand’s latest batting sensation Devon Conway, who made his Test debut against England ahead of the WTC final, has smashed yet another fifty against India in the final to help his side get off to a sensational start. Conway smashed a double ton in his debut game against England.

New Zealand opening batsman Conway, 29, has so far played three Test matches – Two against England and one against India (WTC Final) in the five innings so far he has scored 360 runs at an average of 90.00 and a strike rate of 51.21. The left-hand batsman has hit one century which he converted into a doubleton. He also has hit two fifties to his name.

Conway was dismissed on 54 runs from 152 balls with the help of six boundaries. Ishant Sharma took the vital wicket for India.

In the first Test against England, Conway became the sixth batsman to hit a double-hundred in his debut innings in Test cricket. Conway reached the feat against England on day 2 at Lord’s after New Zealand lost nine wickets. With Neil Wagner providing able support, Conway finally reached the landmark with a massive six over fine leg. The stylish opener, however, ran himself out soon after on 200.

Earlier on Wednesday, the South African-born Conway had joined Harry Graham (for Australia in 1893) and Sourav Ganguly (for India in 1996) in being the only non-English batsmen to score a century on Test debut at Lord’s. Conway also broke a 125-year-old record for the highest Test score on debut in England held by K.S. Ranjitsinhji, who scored 154 in Manchester in 1896.
