WTC Final 2023: India captain Rohit Sharma to take REST from IPL for IND vs AUS clash? Mumbai Indians head coach comes with BOMBASTIC reply to Sunil Gavaskar

WTC Final 2023 – IND vs AUS: Earlier this week, legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar noted that Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma, appears a little “preoccupied”, and should take a rest from Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL 2023). Gavaskar believes that taking a break would be the ideal option for Rohit to rediscover his form as the crucial World Test Championship Final 2023 draws near. Mark Boucher, the head coach of the five-time champions, has now issued a stinging comment in response to Gavaskar’s statements on Saturday.

The IPL final will take place in Ahmedabad on May 28. Thus, the Indian team will only have one week to finalise their preparations in London for the WTC summit clash match against Australia. Gavaskar believes that because Rohit already has the big game in mind, it would be best for him to take a break and come back later to settle in for the Australia Test.

Break for WTC Final 2023?

“I would like to see some change in the batting order [for Mumbai Indians]. Honestly, I would also say that Rohit should maybe also take a break for the time being, and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship [final]. [He can] come back again for the last few matches, but right now, [he should] take a little bit of a breather himself,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports after MI’s defeat to Gujarat Titans on Tuesday.

MI, the five-time champions, were defeated by the reigning champions Gujarat Titans by 55 runs, and Rohit once again struggled under pressure.

“He is looking just that little bit preoccupied. Maybe at this stage he is thinking about the WTC [final], I don’t know. But I do believe that at this stage he needs a little bit of a break, and come back for the last three or four matches so that he is in rhythm for the World Test Championship [final],” Gavaskar added.

Mark Boucher reply to Sunil Gavaskar

Despite Gavaskar’s proposal, Rohit has not requested a break during the IPL 2023, according to Boucher, who was speaking to the media prior to Mumbai’s match against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede. If Rohit does, the management will make the proper decision.

“No, I don’t think he should take rest. That’s not my call to make. Obviously, we want Rohit playing, because he’s a very good player, and a leader as well,” Boucher said.

“If it is the best for Rohit, and he comes up to me and says that ‘you know, I need a bit of a break’ then yes, we will address that, and I will consider that. He hasn’t done that. So yes at the moment, if he is available to play, he will play,” the South African added.

MI vs RR – IPL 2023

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, will have extra reason to celebrate when his team plays the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium.

On Sunday, The Hitman will mark both his birthday and ten years as skipper of the Mumbai Indians.

The star speedster Jofra Archer is healthy and available for selection. Archer’s ability to bowl in death will be a major plus for MI, which has occasionally been an issue for the five-time champions.
