The Indian women’s team finally showed some magic as they pulled off a stunning five-wicket win against England on Sunday. Despite losing the first two comfortably, the Indian team did well to chase down the target of 127, with an over to spare on a difficult Wankhede wicket. Once again, as is usually the case, the spinners did the trick for the Indians in the first innings, for restricting England cheaply.
Shreyana Patil, who made her debut in the same series, was the pick of the bowlers, who returned with powerful figures of 3/19 in her four overs. Left-armer Saika Ishaque played her part too with 3/22. Post this performance, the 21-year-old credited exposure in the WPL and India A, clubbed with Deepti Sharma’s words of wisdom helped her performance.
“I’m very happy, since I first time got a 3-fer, my family and coach were watching. Very happy and want to continue this performance. The experience I got in the WPL and India-A team helped, very happy to be a part of the Indian squad, and I’m enjoying it,” an elated Player of the Match, Shreyanka said.

Shreyanka, who was picked up by the RCB in the WPL Auction 2024 for 10 lakh, also spoke about the contribution Deepti Sharma made in her performance. “It was a huge experience for me to be bowling in tandem with Deepti, she’s been backing me, she’s been having chats with me both on the field and off it. I’m looking forward to bowling with her.”
