WPL 2025 Retention: Full list of retained players by RCB, MI, UPW, GG and DC

Insidesport brings to you the full WPL Retention list by all teams -- RCB, DC, GG, UPW, and MI.

On Thursday, all teams came up with their WPL Retentions, and there were no real surprises over there. A team could retain all 18 players, with a maximum of six foreign players, and all the franchises made the most of the move. As expected, RCB, and MI did not make any shocking changes, but only the ones that were much-needed.

RCB Retention

The WPL 2024 winners, RCB retained as many as 14 players, with Smriti Mandhana being retained as the skipper. The likes of Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Devine were no-brainer retentions as well.

MI Retention

MI retained the core of their team, but came up with only one surprising omission. They left out England’s Issy Wong, who had made headlines by bagging a hat-trick in the first season. They also retained 14 players.

DC Retention

On the other hand, Meg Lanning will continue to lead DC. The only surprise was when they left out leg-spinner Poonam Yadav, which might open new channels for the latter.

UPW Retention

UPW did decently well to let some of the non-performers go. But one feels, the team should have persisted with Lauren Bell at least.

GG Retention

The biggest surprise of the day was reserved by GG, who let go their stand-in skipper Sneh Rana. It did not stop there, but the team also let go Lea Tahuhu, and Kathryn Bryce as well.
