The BCCI, it seems, have come up with a window for the WPL 2025, and as per a report in Cricbuzz, the tournament will be held between February 6 to March 9, 2025. While the exact dates are not yet revealed, the franchises have reportedly been informed about the same, and that the tournament will start in Bengaluru from Feb 6 only.
WPL 2025 Final on March 9
That means, that a part of the tournament will most likely clash with the men’s Champions Trophy, that could be held between Feb 19-March 9. Though the schedule for CT is also not announced as yet, but the dates are as per the tentative schedule released by the PCB months back. In fact, if the dates remain the same for the ICC event, then the final of both the events will be on the same date.
Coming back to the WPL, just like the first two seasons, the WPL 2025 will once again have 22 matches. Even though there were plans to bring a new team, but then that plan stands cancelled for now. Meanwhile, the other location/s for the tournament are also not finalised, but it could be a decision between Lucknow and Ahmedabad.
WPL Could Clash with Champions Trophy
Also, if the WPL final is to be played on March 9, that would mean, that the IPL 2025 would start in less than a week after that. As per the BCCI, the tournament will start on March 14. As far as the WPL Auctions is concerned, all the teams opted for a few changes, where only 17 players were bought. Mumbai’s Simran Shaikh emerged as the most-expensive buy there, by Gujarat Giants.
