Delhi Capital’s Women’s team pacer Arundhati Reddy has been slammed with 10% of her match fees. The pacer was charged for breaching WPL Code of Conduct during the DC vs UPW clash in Bengaluru. The played admitted to the charges and was subsequently slapped with the fine.
“Arundhati Reddy from Delhi Capitals has been fined 10% of her match fees for breaching the WPL Code of Conduct during her team’s match against UP Warriorz at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Monday,” read WPL’s statement.
Arundhati Reddy was charged under Article 2.5 where she admitted to a level 1 offence. “For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the WPL statement further added.
Article 2.5 of WPL Code of Conduct deals with players using foul language including vile actions and gestures upon dismissing a batter.
Coming to the game in the Women’s Premier League, the Delhi Capitals won registered their maiden win in the ongoing campaign. With this win, DC are now positioned second in the points table with 2 points from 2 games. In their opening game DC lost to defending champions Mumbai Indians.
Against UP Warriorz, Delhi were a class apart. Batting first, WP Warriorz could only managed 119 runs which Delhi chased withing 15 overs and won the game by 9 wickets. Both openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Varma registered fifties to guide their side to victory.
