In a highly contested game, Gujarat Giants Captain Beth Mooney and Laura Wolvaardt ran riots in the WPL 2024 game against RCB at the Arun Jaitley Stadium as they set a 200-run target for Smriti Madhana and Co. Mooney partnering up with Wolvaardt set up the second-highest partnership in the tournament of 140 runs before the latter was dismissed after a runout.
Winning the toss and deciding to bat first, skipper Beth Mooney led Laura Wolvaardt out and unleashed an early onslaught. After scoring over 60 runs on the powerplay, the openers altered gears to capitalise on their momentum. Wolvaardt scored 78 runs before being ejected, and Mooney continued his onslaught, scoring an unbeaten 85.
However, the first place in the highest partnership has been held strong by Capital’s Meg Lanning & Shafali Verma. Lanning and Verma stitched a solid 162-run opening partnership for the Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium on Sunday.
