Matthews however had the last laugh as Jonassen tried to sweep the next ball and mishit the ball straight to Matthews who took the full toll of the much easier chance and reduced the Delhi Capitals side to 75 for 7 in 13.2 overs.

Hayley Matthews scalped three wickets in her quota of 4 overs to wreck Delhi Capitals. It has been a brilliant start for MI who dismissed Shafali Verma & Alice Capsey early on. Jemimah Rodrigues soon departed as well as Wong took three consecutive wickets. Meg Lanning played a crucial 35 off 29 balls before she was dismissed by a run-out. Delhi Capitals looked out of the game but a last wicket partnership of 52 runs of 24 balls between Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav takes Delhi Capitals to 131.

As for the final, a late flourish from England all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt (60 not out) helped Mumbai Indians take the inaugural title. MI beat Delhi Capitals by seven wickets in a low-scoring summit clash in Mumbai on Sunday.

Mumbai Indians chased down the target of 131 with three balls to spare to lift the trophy. Opting to bat first, Delhi Capitals suffered a collapse to be reduced to 79 for 9 in 16 overs. But DC posted a respectable total of 131/9. All credit goes to a record 52-run partnership for the unbroken 10th wicket between Shikha Pandey (27) and Radha Yadav (27).

It was not an easy run chase for MI. But they eventually crossed the line, reaching 134/3 in 19.3 overs. Sciver-Brunt and captain Harmanpreet (37) played crucial roles.
