On the eve of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, Krishnappa Gowtham has shared his horror experience at the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The off-spinner has played 36 matches for three teams in the IPL since making his debut in 2017. But there are two other teams that bought him but didn’t play him. Of all these teams, the only one Gowtham doesn’t wish to play for is PBKS. Not the endorsement the franchise needed a day before the big day.
Punjab Kings’ issues
Not many players have criticised the franchise publicly. However, past reports have indicated the PBKS owner’s involvement in team selection. Even chiding coaches and players in the dressing room soon after losing a match. Recently, Glenn Maxwell also wrote in his book that then PBKS mentor Virender Sehwag would pick the playing XI despite him being the captain and threw him under the bus for the team’s failures in the press conference as soon as the 2017 season was over.

Punjab Kings’ poor treatment of Krishnappa Gowtham
Asked, ‘Is there one team you don’t want to play for in the IPL?‘ Gowtham told Cricket.com, “I would say Punjab Kings. I’m just being very honest. I’ve never had a good experience with them. There are other things; it’s not just about cricket. It’s not the way I would want to be treated as a cricketer. When I play for a team, I always give more than 100% for the team; I never keep anything back. But I wouldn’t give more than 100% to the Punjab Kings if they pick me (at the IPL 2025 mega auction).“
