Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson expressed his preference to bowl first after losing the toss to Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant in their ninth match of IPL 2024. Coming off a convincing win against Lucknow Super Giants in their opening encounter, Samson’s statement hints at a potential low-scoring thriller at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Samson even dissected to keep things simple during for RR. After being put to bat first, Samson emphasized the importance of sticking to the team’s plans: “We just need to follow the process and not think too much,” he said at the toss.
This approach seems to be working well for the Royals, who claimed a remarkable win over LSG by 20 runs, thanks in part to a phenomenal 82* by Samson himself.
“We would have bowled first, dew could come in the second innings. Both pitches have an even covering of grass, but the last match was an afternoon game. All the 10 teams are geared up and prepared well,” said Samson at the toss.
The Royals will be hoping to continue their winning momentum against a Delhi Capitals side desperate for their first points after a loss to Punjab Kings in their opening encounter.
