Pakistan’s current T20 form might be a worrying situation for skipper Babar Azam. Ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, Pakistan Cricket team is struggling to find its form. The Men in Green recently suffered a T20I defeat at the hands of Ireland. Not only that, Pakistan’s form in the 20-over format has been quite poor since the last concluded T20 World Cup. Let us take a look.
Recent Pakistan’s T20 form
After the last concluded T20 World Cup, Pakistan Cricket team lost their first ever T20I series at the hands of Afghanistan back in 2022/23 in UAE. After losing to Afghanistan, Pakistan could only manage to level the series against a weak New Zealand side in 2023.
The Men in Green also failed to collect any medals in the last Asian Games played in China. Pakistan lost to Bangladesh for the Bronze medal match. After the Asian Games, Babar Azam and Co. reached New Zealand to play a 5-match T20I series. The visitors failed to apply themselves and were thrashed by a margin of 4-1.
Babar Azam and Co. also failed to win the T20I series when the Blackcaps recently toured to Pakistan despite most of their star players missing from the camp.
Pakistan next match
After facing a defeat against Ireland in the first T20I, Babar Azam and Co. will face Ireland in 2nd T20I. The match will be played on May 12 (Sunday) at the Clontarf Cricket Stadium in Dublin. With 2024 T20 World Cup coming, Pakistan cricket team will look to bounce back against the Irish side before facing England in a T20I series.
