After the win in their World Cup opening match against Afghanistan, Bangladesh cricket team struggled to continue their winning form and lost back-to-back games. Now, the team has suffered another blow as team captain Shakib Al Hasan has been struggling with torn muscle. Fans are now concerned whether the world No.1 all-rounder would play the IND vs BAN clash on October 19.
However, team will take the final call on Bangladesh team skipper on the matchday of IND vs BAN World Cup clash.
Bangladesh team head coach. Chandika Hathurusingha gave an update on Shakib’s injury while talking to media.
“He had a good batting session yesterday and did a little bit of running between the wickets. We did a scan today, so we are waiting for the results. At the moment he is okay. We haven’t tried with bowling yet. So, he will come tomorrow morning and we will assess him again and then make a decision”, Hathurusingha said in press conference.
“If he is not ready to play, we won’t risk him. But if he’s ready, then there’s a chance of him playing tomorrow”, the head coach added.
Notably, IND vs BAN will be a crucial encounter for Bangladesh who have struggled against big teams so far. The Shakib-led side suffered a heavy defeat in the match against New Zealand. The captain was the lone fighter for the side as he delivered both with bat and ball. The World No.1 ODI all-rounder suffered muscle strain while batting but managed to bowl his full 10-overs quota of bowling before going to the hospital for a scan.
