Former Indian cricketer and current Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Joginder Sharma turned hero for the flood-affected people of Ambala, amidst the ongoing devastating floods in the region.
The T20 World Cup 2007 World Cup hero was seen actively participating in rescue efforts in his Ambala.
Joginder Sharma, who hails from Rohtak and represented Haryana in domestic cricket, shared a picture on Twitter in which he was surrounded by his colleagues, ankle-deep in water, as they assist the flood victims.

“We face what scares you Ambala Police Team”, he captioned the post.
The floods have wreaked havoc in North India, particularly in Delhi, Delhi NCR, Haryana, and Punjab. The situation has prompted extensive rescue activities, with the involvement of various organizations and even the army.
Joginder Sharma – India’s T20 World Cup 2007 Hero
Joginder Sharma’s cricketing career highlight was his memorable bowling spell in the final of the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.
Led by MS Dhoni, Joginder played a crucial role in securing India’s historic victory over arch-rivals Pakistan. Joginder was given a big responsibility of defending a 12 in last over. The pacer took the key wicket of Misbah-ul-Haq, securing a narrow five-run triumph for India.

Following the T20 World Cup, Joginder Sharma represented India in four ODIs and as many T20Is, claiming a total of five wickets.
In domestic circuit, Joginder Sharma took 297 wickets in 77 matches, boasting an impressive average of 21.09 and an economy rate of 2.65. Additionally, his List-A career comprised 115 wickets from 80 games, with an average of 23.22 and an economy rate of 4.48.
He announced his retirement in February 2023.
