India’s young opening batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has shown a dominant display in the ongoing India vs Zimbabwe series. Despite being included in the T20 World Cup squad, Jaiswal didn’t get a chance to play a single match in the tournament.
However, he has found his opportunity in the series against Zimbabwe, showcasing his explosive batting. In the third T20I, Jaiswal played a solid knock of 36 runs. But it was the IND vs ZIM 4th T20I where he truly unleashed his fury, hammering a half-century in 29 balls, and scoring a mammoth 93 runs in just 53 balls.
India sealed the series by 3-1, winning the 4th T20I by 10 wickets. The fifth and final T20 is scheduled to be played on Sunday, July 14.
Securing a permanent spot
Jaiswal’s return to form is a welcome sight for Indian cricket fans. His exclusion from the playing XI during the World Cup was disappointing for the fans, particularly considering his impressive run in the IPL.
This series against Zimbabwe has served as the perfect platform for him to claim a permanent opening spot in the T20I squad. As Rohit Sharma is retired from T20I, it’s the perfect time for Jaiswal to hold the torch for the opening spot in the Indian team.
