World Cup 2023: Rahul targets World Cup 2023, batter confident of making a stronger comeback

The past one year has been pretty tough for Rahul. Bad luck started for the 32-year-old on June 2022 when he was ruled out due to a groin injury in a five-match ODI series against South Africa. Rahul was set to captain India, as he was earmarked future leader. After successfully recovering from a groin injury, he made a comeback in a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe and went on to play Asia Cup 2022 and T20 World Cup 2022.

However, form deserted him as Rahul consistently failed to post big scores. He was also stripped of vice-captaincy from all three formats of the game. The only solace for Rahul in this period is his good form in ODIs. Playing at number five, the right-hand batter is averaging a solid 45 and is striking runs at 90 strike rate. Rahul has solidified his place in the ODI team and will be aiming to be fully fit for ODI World Cup.

Official information on Rahul’s return to action will soon be out. If all goes well, then the right-hand batter might as well return to action in Asia Cup 2023.
