Former India Cricket Team skipper Sourav Ganguly made a big statement on Indian Cricket during the WPL 2024 Auction. The former BCCI President, now the Director of Cricket for Delhi Capitals was present at the Women’s Premier League Auction where he went on to praise the progress of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team.
Ganguly went on to claim that the Women in Blue are the most improved side over the years. He explained that the Indian Eves have improved more than the Men’s Cricket Team.
“The Women’s cricket team has improved more than the Men’s Team. The Men’s team is obviously very good but the improvement shown by the women’s team over the last few years has been very good,” said Sourav Ganguly at the WPL 2024 Auction to JioCinema.
Ganguly further went on to explain that the development of the women cricketers over the years has been good. He cited the examples of Harmanpret Kaur, Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh and heaped praises for them.
“The Women’s team has performed well and given results over the years. The Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games are a big example of that. Harmanpreet Kaur is guiding the team well. We have Smriti Mandhana who is a good batter and even Richa Ghosh is young and playing well. When Jhulan retired we were worried that we won’t get a good pacer but now look at Renuka Singh who is perming well for the team,” Ganguly concluded.
The former India team skipper also hailed the importance of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and how it has helped in the development of the young players.
