In preparation for the ODI World Cup 2023, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a crucial step to mitigate rain-related disruptions during the tournament. With the possibility of rain in the months of October and November at some World Cup venues, the staging associations have been instructed to ensure complete ground coverage with rain covers.

The decision to install full ground rain covers is aimed at safeguarding the tournament against weather-induced interruptions, allowing for seamless gameplay and an unforgettable cricketing experience for fans and players alike. BCCI is leaving no stone unturned to make the 2023 ODI World Cup a resounding success.
During the Indian Premier League 2023 final, heavy rainfall in Ahmedabad highlighted the importance of having adequate rain protection in place. Water from the stands drained onto spectators, making the situation even more challenging for those present. As umbrellas are prohibited within the stadium premises for security reasons, fans had to rely on their paper tickets, ensuring the QR codes remained intact to access the reserve day.
BCCI has taken the proactive step of allocating Rs 50 crore to each ODI World Cup 2023 venue for renovating their infrastructure. The funds will be utilized to upgrade facilities and improve overall fan experiences. Besides the installation of full ground rain covers, the allocation aims to enhance seating arrangements, restroom facilities, and security measures at the venues, offering cricket enthusiasts a world-class sporting spectacle.
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is set to be hosted in ten official venues across India, including Ahmedabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Dharamsala, Delhi, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, and Kolkata. Prior to the tournament, warm-up games will be held in the cities of Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati.
