With Pakistan coach Gary Kristen busy in IPL 2024, PCB announces staff for Ireland-England T20I series

Pakistan will be looking to use these series as valuable preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June, where Gary Kirsten will be at the helm as their white-ball head coach.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named the coaching staff for the upcoming T20I series against Ireland and England, with Gary Kirsten’s official appointment as head coach coming into effect later.

Gary Kirsten busy in IPL 2024: Mahmood takes charge initially

With Gary Kirsten currently fulfilling his coaching duties with the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024, the PCB has named Azhar Mahmood as the head coach for the Ireland series starting May 10th as per Cricket Pakistan. Mahmood will then transition to the role of assistant coach when Kirsten joins the team for the England series later in May.

Kirsten has an impressive resume as a coach, under his guidance, India won the 2011 ODI World Cup. The South African great will now be at helm of Pakistan team for upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Familiar Faces in coaching staff

Joining Mahmood are some familiar faces in the Pakistan coaching setup. Wahab Riaz will take on the role of senior team manager, while Mohammad Yousuf will be the batting coach. The experienced Saeed Ajmal will continue his tenure as the spin bowling coach.

Pakistan squad Bolstered by Key Players

Pakistan’s squad sees the return of all-rounder Shadab Khan and pacer Hasan Ali for the Ireland series. The full squad boasts a strong lineup with Babar Azam leading the charge alongside Mohammad Rizwan and other seasoned campaigners.

  • May 10th: 1st T20I in Dublin (7:00 PM PST)
  • May 12th: 2nd T20I in Dublin (7:00 PM PST)
  • May 14th: 3rd T20I in Dublin (7:00 PM PST)

Pakistan vs England (4-match T20I series):

  • May 22nd: 1st T20I in Leeds (10:30 PM PST)
  • May 25th: 2nd T20I in Birmingham (6:30 PM PST)
  • May 28th: 3rd T20I in Cardiff (10:30 PM PST)
  • May 30th: 4th T20I at The Oval, London (10:30 PM PST)
