With Champions Trophy semifinal qualification on the line, Pakistan arrives in Dubai for India clash

Pakistan has lost their Champions Trophy opener to New Zealand, and the India match could be a virtual do-or-die tie for the hosts.

The Pakistan cricket team has arrived in Dubai ahead of the India vs. Pakistan match. The high-octane ICC Champions Trophy encounter will be played on February 23 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The game has been billed as the biggest clash of the tournament, and tickets for the tie were sold out in less than one hour.

Pakistan cricket team arrives in Dubai

The Mohammad Rizwan-led side has lost their opener to New Zealand and could very well be knocked out of the ICC Champions Trophy if they lose to the India cricket team. The pressure is mounting on Pakistan. One can’t forget that the Men in Green are hosting an ICC event after 29 years and are the defending champions as well.

Pakistan vs India: do-or-die match for Rizwan & Co.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has worked extremely hard to bag the rights to the ICC Champions Trophy, and an early departure could have serious ramifications. Some players might lose their spots on the team, coaches might be sacked, and even the selection committee could be changed.

As if this wasn’t enough. To keep their hopes alive, they have to have arch-rivals India. A team that has historically troubled them in ICC events. Yes, Pakistan did beat the Men in Blue in the 2017 Champions Trophy Final, but since then, they have only beaten them once in five ICC events.

India are only the overwhelming favourites to win the title, and to face them in a virtually knockout match will be as tough as it gets. Not to forget, they have lost Fakhar Zaman to injury. The batter was the ‘Player of the Match’ in that 2017 match at The Oval.
