Who all are left in fray for WIPL Teams? On Monday morning 17 companies with a minimum NET-WORTH of Rs 1,000 cr submitted technical bids.
Although all the 10 IPL franchisees bought the ITT, 3 IPL teams have including IPL champions Gujarat Titans, Chennai Super Kings & Lucknow Super Giants did not submit the BIDS.
According to the sources, IPL franchises Mumbai Indians (Reliance), Delhi Capitals (GMR-JSW), Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad (Sun TV Network), and Royal Challengers Bangalore (Diageo) have submitted their technical bids.
Other than 7 IPL Teams, Torrent Group, Kotak, Haldiram’s, Adani Group, Slingshot-Route Mobile, APL Apollo, Accord Group, and Shriram Group have submitted their technical bids.
The eligible entities can choose to bid for cities like Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Dharamshala, Guwahati, Indore, Lucknow, and Mumbai.
When the Financial BIDS will be submitted? The deadline for submission of the financial bids for the five teams is Wednesday morning. After which the BCCI will reveal the owners of the five franchises in WIPL. It’s a close bidding affair – which means the BIDDERS will have to put their BEST-FOOT forward at the WORD-G0.
It is pertinent to note that the BCCI has not fixed any bases for the franchise cities, just like in the case of the media rights tender. Viacom18 paid a record sum of 941 crore for the media rights to the WIPL over a five-year period.
Why CSK, LSG, GT are not bidding for WIPL Teams? According to a report by Cricbuzz, Chennai Super Kings official confirmed the decision saying it was a strategic business call.
For Gujarat Titans, the team representative wants to focus on the Men’s Team. The team is owned by US-based private equity firm CVC Capital.
When will be the WIPL Player Auction? Currently no dates are officially finalized for the WIPL Player Auction. But according to the sources in the BCCI, if all goes well with WIPL Teams AUCTION on Wednesday, player AUCTION can be scheduled for 2nd week of February.
Each of the five franchises will have a Rs 12 cr purse to buy the players in the first year. This amount will be increased to 13. 5 cr in the second year and Rs 15 cr in the third year.
Teams can play five overseas players in the XI, with one from an ICC associate member country.
Matches will be played at only two venues in the inaugural season – the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai and the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
