One of the most pertinent questions about IPL 2025 Auction is whether uncapped player rule be allowed or not. Reports stated that uncapped player rule can be used. This means Chennai Super Kings can use MS Dhoni as an uncapped player. However, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has now said they have no idea about it.
The CSK official further added that Chennai Super Kings as a team has not requested the BCCI to implement the rule. He further stated that the apex body of the country is also yet to announce anything on the matter.
BCCI to reintroduce Uncapped player rule?
“I have no idea about it – we have not requested it – BCCI have themselves told us that the ‘uncapped player rule’ may be kept, that’s all – they haven’t announced anything yet,” Kasi Viswanathan told Times of India.
The uncapped player rule states that any player who hasn’t played International Cricket for the past 5 years is stated as an uncapped player. This rule had been in existence from 2008 and lasted till 2021. But now Kasi Viswanathan stated that CSK hasn’t asked the rule to be re-introduced. Instead it is the BCCI that has shown interest in bringing the rule back into existence.
