Now the ICC Champions Trophy schedule is out, and so are the groups. India is in Group A, along with Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh. On the other hand, Group B consists of South Africa, Australia, Afghanistan, and England, all set to face each other. India will meet Pakistan on February 23, which is expected to be a big clash, especially after so much tension and venue changes. Initially, the India vs Pakistan match was supposed to be held in Lahore, but it has now been moved to Dubai. Among all this, one thing that caught people’s attention is the format of the Champions Trophy. Not long ago, there were rumors that the 2025 Champions Trophy would be in T20 format, rather than the usual ODI format, which intrigued many. So, what’s the real truth behind this? Will we see the usual Champions Trophy format, or is there some twist related to the format?
Champions Trophy 2025 T20I or ODI?
The Champions Trophy 2025 is going to be in ODI format and will run from February 19 to March 9. Eight participating teams are split into two groups of four. Each team competes in a single round-robin format, playing one match against each of the other three teams within their group. There were some rumours about how the ICC is looking to shift this format to a T20 setup due to the popularity of the shorter format. Although this edition is going to be a 50-over tournament rather than a 20-over game.
