One can argue that Yashasvi Jaiswal has already become a superstar. The 22-year-old outscored legends like Rohit Sharma and Joe Root and even beat bowling maestros Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and James Anderson to claim the ‘Player of the Series’ award.
Scoring 712 runs in the series, the southpaw fell just 63 runs short of another Mumbai great, Sunil Gavaskar, to become the Indian cricketer with the most runs in a Test series. After helping his side win the India vs England Test series 4-1, Yashasvi Jaiswal revealed his mindset. In the post-match presentation, he said:
“I really enjoyed the series, happy with the way I played throughout the series. I was just thinking if I can take a bowler down, I will take him down, and that’s the plan, and there’s no backing out. Trying to take it one game at a time and always thinking of how I can contribute for my team so that I can keep the team in a winning position.”
