Rohit Sharma and Co. should be ready to face the ‘Joe Root’ storm in the remaining India vs England Tests. The star batter had raised a few eyebrows with his rash shot in the second Test in Vizag.
Having been struggling with a finger injury, he took an ultra-aggressive approach when he reached the middle. Being a senior member of the side, Root’s approach had people criticizing Baseball for ruining the tinkering with the batter’s style of play.
Root joined Zak Crawley at 132/2 and left him 16 balls later, having scored two fours and one maximum in 10 balls.
Amidst criticism for leaving his side stranded, England head coach Brendon McCullum has come out in Joe Root’s defense.
“He’s a world-class player and as good as any player England has ever seen,” he said to the Telegraph.
Warning Rohit Sharma and Co. about Joe Root, he added:
“His method in the second innings, whilst people will look to the dismissal, he was trying to get the field back so he could milk them. It is the bravery you have to take at times and sometimes you get out doing it but that’s just the way the game rolls. There is no doubt from our point of view in that approach. There are three Tests left, still an opportunity to score a whole s–t-ton of runs.
