It was during the 5th T20I match against England in February when Sanju Samson got hit on his right index finger. The Rajasthan Royals skipper then underwent finger surgery and was also at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for rehab purposes. But now, Samson is back and set to play in IPL 2025.
However, there is a twist—at least for the first few matches of RR. As its confirm, 23-year-old Riyan Parag will captain the Royals for the first three matches. But the question is, will Sanju Samson play in all three matches? More importantly, will he feature in Rajasthan’s opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad?
Will Sanju Samson play in IPL 2025?
For Sanju Samson fans, the good news is that he will play in the initial few matches, as he has been cleared to bat but not to keep wickets. So, possibly, we will see him as an impact substitute.
However, it will be interesting to see who he replaces. Will it be Shimron Hetmyer, or if Nitish Rana makes it into the playing XI, could he be the one replaced? This is just an assumption, as it all depends on the scenario, whether the team bats first or bowls first. It will be interesting to watch how RR strategises.
