India have not announced their playing XI for the first Test against Bangladesh; however, it is mostly confirmed that Rishabh Pant will be India’s wicketkeeper for the match. The IND vs BAN 1st Test will be played on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium. If selected for the first Test, Rishabh Pant will entertain viewers with his hilarious mic commentary.
Will Rishabh Pant play Test series?
India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, has confirmed that Pant is their first-choice wicketkeeper-batter, and Dhruv Jurel will have to wait for his opportunity.
‘We don’t drop anyone. We just pick the players who fit the XI. Jurel is a phenomenal player, but when Pant is coming in, sometimes people have to wait. The same goes for Sarfaraz. There will be opportunities, but you have to wait,’ Gambhir said at the press conference.

Why Rishabh Pant over Dhruv Jurel in Test?
The left-handed batter has been phenomenal for India in Test cricket, especially against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Known for his aggressive play against spin, his battles with Nathan Lyon are a highlight of modern Test cricket. In the 2020–21 series, Pant’s fearless batting made him a key player alongside Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
