In what could be good news for both fans and the teams, rain could possibly not play spoilsport in the IPL 2025 opening game. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22. While there were concerns over the possibility of rain forcing the contest to be truncated or even the game being abandoned, the weather forecast for Saturday evening hints a relief for the teams.

As per AccuWeather, the highest possibility of rain is before the KKR vs RCB contest, with 16% chance of precipitation at 6 PM. From 7 PM onwards till the end of the game, the chance of rain is just 7%. On Friday, the final practice session for both teams was cancelled due to incessant rain. Earlier this week, an Orange alert was also issued for Saturday.
